Howth - seals and sea gulls

As I already mentioned in one of the previous posts, my favourite place around Dublin is certainly Howth. There are many reasons for this but two of them are definitely seabirds and seals. With puffins, cormorants, guillemots and razorbills around, gulls may not be the most fascinating (I guess mostly because they're so common - I don't really have nothing personal against them other than the fact that one of their preferred means of defence in the face of potential threat seems to be defecating onto that threat - but that's a different story...) but nevertheless fun to photograph. I really don't have to say anything in favour of seals, do I? :)

Fish&Chips :-)

Buying fish at the fish mongers and giving them to seals is quite popular...

One more fish this way, please!

    1. Thanks, Maria! :) You should definitely come over some time :)

The camera is a Canon 50D with a 18-200mm zoom lens and most of the pictures were taken close to the 200mm end. These are shots from two trips and after the first trip I decided to buy a polarizing filter so you can actually see here what a remarkable difference this little thing makes. The last two shots of seals were taken with the filter and the previous ones without it - I am not shooting any underwater animals without that filter ever again!
